Louise, our CEO, was an invited plenary speaker at the Synthetic Biology Satellite Meeting, part of Queenstown Research Week, across 4-5th September 2024. In her presentation, Louise shared HydGene’s journey from its origins in the iGEM competition to scaling up hydrogen production using synthetic biology. She highlighted HydGene’s innovative approach to transforming waste biomass into hydrogen, illustrating how synthetic biology can be harnessed to create sustainable and low costs solutions for chemical manufacturing.
In addition to her plenary talk, Louise participated in a panel focused on boosting support for iGEM in New Zealand. Drawing from HydGene’s own success story, she emphasised the value of iGEM in fostering innovation and providing young researchers with critical opportunities to develop transformative technologies and opportunities for building collaborations.
With New Zealand advancing its synthetic biology initiatives and legislative changes at this time, this event presented an exciting opportunity for HydGene to also continue to build partnerships with its neighbors.
