HydGene joins Australia–Japan climate technology dialogue in Tokyo

HydGene's CEO Dr Louise Brown participated in the Australia–Japan Climate-tech Forum in Tokyo on June 18th, joining Australian climate technology leaders, Japanese corporates, investors and government representatives to discuss opportunities for accelerating climate technology deployment between the two countries.

Hosted by Austrade and the Australian Embassy in Japan, the forum attracted representatives from major Japanese energy companies, banks, venture capital firms and investors, highlighting the growing momentum for Australia–Japan collaboration in industrial decarbonisation.

Joining a fireside discussion alongside Kite Magnetics, Global Brain Corporation and NEC, Louise sharing insights into the opportunities and challenges of building partnerships between Australian technology startups and large industrial organisations in Japan. The discussion explored practical approaches to establishing successful corporate collaborations, navigating technology validation and creating pathways towards commercial deployment in international markets.

The event also showcased a number of successful Australia–Japan technology partnerships, including collaborations involving Wildfire Energy, Gelion, MCi Carbon and Relectrify, demonstrating the increasing role Australian climate technologies are playing in Japan's energy transition.

The forum featured keynote presentations from Daiwa Capital Markets and Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), outlining Japan's Green Transformation (GX) strategy and the growing alignment between Australian innovation and Japanese investment.

"Japan continues to be an important strategic market for HydGene, and one we regularly visit to work with our partners," said Louise. "There's strong alignment around industrial decarbonisation, distributed hydrogen production and the role that Australian climate technologies can play in supporting Japan's energy transition. Events like this are invaluable for building long-term relationships with customers, corporate partners and investors."
